Nkhankanka means Crested Guinea Fowl in siSwati, and flocks of the game reserve’s “logo” Nkhankanka are commonly seen in the undergrowth around the lodge. The lodge is surrounded by magnificent Leadwood trees hundreds of years old.
Nkankanka Lodge overlooks a deep pool in the Mlawula river, and the wooden deck perched looking over it is perfect for riverine bird watching or just relaxing. This lodge is the ideal venue for a larger group. The main building has two bedrooms with double beds (or twin beds) and two bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen and living area, and a separate building a short walk away, with two bedrooms offering double beds (or twin beds) and en-suite bathrooms. Each has its own view into the bush or towards the river and sliding doors that allow you to enjoy the peace and beauty of the bush from the privacy of your room. The lodge is fully equipped with a braai area, stove, microwave, fridge-freezer, skottle, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
